Ports
YR Geotechnical materials are widely used in port engineering, and the following are the main aspects:
Port terminal infrastructure construction
– Enhance the bearing capacity of the foundation:
Geogrids are widely used in dock foundations. For example, in the construction of port terminals on soft soil foundations, geogrids and foundation soil work together to form a composite foundation, which improves the bearing capacity of the foundation, enables the terminal to withstand the huge loads generated by large ships docking and loading and unloading cargo, and reduces the uneven settlement of the dock foundation.
– Isolate different soil layers:
Geotextiles can play an isolation role. In the construction of dock foundations, if there are soil layers of different properties, geotextiles can prevent the upper fill from mixing with the lower soft soil layer, ensure the compaction effect of the fill, and avoid the soft soil layer from being disturbed and reducing the bearing capacity.
Port channel protection and regulation
– Channel slope protection:
Geotechnical materials combined with vegetation can be used to protect channel slopes. Geotextiles are laid on the slopes on both sides of the waterway, and grass seeds or transplanted plants are planted in the pores of the fabric. The plant roots work together with the geotextile to enhance the stability of the slope, prevent slope collapse and soil erosion, and ensure the normal passage of the waterway.
– Breakwater construction:
Geotextiles and geogrids can be used in the construction of breakwaters. For example, in some breakwaters with sandbag structures, geotextiles can wrap sandbags to enhance the integrity and anti-scouring ability of sandbags, and improve the stability and protection effect of breakwaters.
Port yard construction and anti-seepage
– Yard ground reinforcement:
Geogrids can be used for ground reinforcement of port yards. Since port yards need to frequently bear the weight of cargo handling equipment and cargo, geogrids can enhance the bearing capacity of the ground, reduce ground deformation, and extend the service life of the yard ground.
– Yard anti-seepage treatment:
Geomembrane can be used for port yard anti-seepage. For some storage yards storing liquid cargoes or cargoes that are polluting to the environment, geomembranes can prevent cargo leakage from polluting the soil and groundwater, thus protecting the environment and port facilities.
